Happy Monday friends! To complete my first haul/July favorites and reviews post series, I’m going to talk about the face and lip products I’ve picked up over the past couple of months. Check out the first post here! Enjoy!
Let’s talk foundation. Now, I pretty much never wear foundation and have been rather hesitant to buy any for fear of what it would do to my face, but after trying out some higher end brands and learning that there is nothing to be afraid of, I decided to give foundation a go. Until it is in my price range to purchase what I deemed to be the best foundation I’ve ever tried (so far), Urban Decay’s Naked Skin foundation, I settled for picking up Revlon’s Nearly Naked foundation at my local Walmart. I picked up the shade “Chestnut” (#280), which was luckily pretty close to my skin tone. Additionally, I heard really good things about Revlon’s Nearly Naked pressed powder and decided to pick that up as well. I have it in the shade “Deep” (#50).
The liquid foundation is pretty good! It provides a medium (buildable) coverage that I like since I don’t regularly wear foundation. The shade is a tad pink for my skin as I apply it, but settles in well enough to get a close match. It leaves a dewy finish to the skin which I didn’t like at first, but I think it’s just a matter of me getting used to it. By the way, my skin gets a tad oily in my t-zone area, but is pretty normal otherwise. If you have oily skin, I wouldn’t recommend this foundation, unless you like a dewy finish sometimes (a nice look for the summer time). The foundation is of a liquid consistency and comes in a pour-out bottle verses a pump which is fine with me. You just have to be careful when pouring it out so you don’t accidentally spill too much.
Now the pressed powder I really like. A lot of times, when I don’t feel like doing the whole foundation or bb cream routine, I just throw this powder on my face using a big fluffy brush (the pad it comes with is good for around your nose and under your eyes, but too small for everything else). It gives just a light coverage that mattifies my skin which I like during these hot summer months. The color is a perfect match to my skin and helps perfect the color of my foundation and bb cream when I set them with this powder. It’s great! It’s just a good powder when you want a natural, non-complicated makeup look that’s inexpensive.
Milani Coming Up Roses Powder Blush
(This blush is unfortunately sold out online, but you can find it at your local CVS, Walgreens, Meijer and Fredy Meyers)
All right you guys, I’ve officially found my FAVORITE inexpensive blush. These blushes are gorgeous! From the beautiful packaging to the color payoff, to how long they last, I just love them! I picked up the shades “Romantic Rose” and “Warm Petals. Let’s start with Romantic Rose:
Romantic Rose is a really pretty matte soft pink shade that looks great on darker skin tones. It gives a nice natural pink flush that’s just gorgeous.

Warm Petals is my favorite of the two. It is a shimmery bronzy peachy color that can be used as a bronzer or a blush. I don’t like sparkly bronzers so I just use it as a blush. It’s so gorgeous! (btw, don’t be afraid of the shimmer, it applies beautifully!)
(These swatches aren’t as great, so I hope you can see a little bit of the color, sorry! Top photo is without flash, the bottom photo is with flash)
All right, so where have these lipsticks been all my life! They are amazing! They have a wonderful creamy texture that goes on smoothly and actually moisturizes your lips! They are also pretty long lasting especially when you apply their lip liners first. The lip liners are great as well! Very pigmented and glide on amazingly. I picked up the shades “Teddy Bare”, “Red Label” (which I wore in this post) and “Plumrose” in the lipsticks and “Nude” and “True Red” in the lip liners . My favorite of the bunch is Teddy Bare. It’s a great pinky-brown nude that’s great for everyday. The red is actually my favorite red lipstick in my very small red lipstick collection. I will definitely be picking up more of these lipsticks!

And this concludes my first haul/monthly favorites/reviews post! Haha, I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Feedback is always welcome! I’ll be doing many more of these in the future!
What have been your go to face and lip products for the season?
Here is a picture of me wearing something from each section of these posts. I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Catwalk Palette on my eyes (I also used the color “Call Back” to highlight my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose and my cupid’s bow). I then used Revlon’s Nearly Naked Foundation and Pressed Powder as well as Milani’s Coming Up Roses Blush in “Warm Petals” on my face. Lastly, I used Milani’s Color Statement Lipliner in “Nude” with “Teddy Bare” over that. Tutorial using these products coming soon!
