Happy one more day until Friday!! I’m bringing you another postcard from my new stylist/makeover segment. Today’s segment is covering finding what to wear to make my petite ladies appear taller. Here’s what Stephanie wrote:
To assist Stephanie with finding appropriate work attire that will help make her appear taller, we ventured to one of my favorite stores, Target. I did some research before hand and learned a few tips that are helpful in choosing clothing that give the illusion of a taller stature. This article was really helpful in providing me with more insight into Stephanie’s style concern. I knew that I’d want to look for pieces somewhere inexpensive since she was willing to buy some new items, so with this new knowledge we headed to Target. It was fun being her personal shopper! The first item that came to mind when reading the article was Target’s Morena Ponte Striped dress that I wore recently in a post. One of the tips that stood out to me in reading the article from Stylecaster was how vertical stripes create the illusion of being taller. I had her try on a number of items, but when she tried on this dress, we both gave each other “the look” followed by a number of “oos” and “ahhs” and knew this was the one. The special thing about this dress is not only the vertical stripes on the bottom half but the a-line shape of the dress. The a-line shape and the strategically placed horizontal stripes at the top half of the dress helps slim and draw attention to her waist while the horizontal stripes at the bottom of the dress pull the look together. This dress, especially at only $27 bucks was a winner. I decided to pair it with a nude pump as nude or flesh colored heels elongates the leg adding to the illusion of being taller. I did her makeup and added a simple pearl necklace and here’s the final look!
